Technology News on Super Wi-Fi

© nswlearnscope

In recent technology news, Canada is looking at adopting super WiFi, which is a high speed wireless internet technology that can travel up to 100 km. Super WiFi has already been approved for implementation in the US, and the term was first used by the US FCC to describe a wireless technology that operates on the unused spectrum that was previously used by TV stations transmitting analog signals.

This so-called white space must be cleared for use in Canada before it will be free for the transmission of WiFi service. Those in rural areas may benefit the most from super WiFi, as many in the US and Canada still suffer with limited access and service. Super WiFi is also known as the Wireless Regional Area Network, and it could offer speeds up to 22 megabits per second with a very robust signal.

Considering hosted PBX for agency telecoms?

© [nivs]

If you are running a business in today's technology environment then it pays to stay on top. Every penny saved is a penny added to your bottom line and keeps your investors happy. Switching to hosted PBX for agency telecommunication services can completely revolutionize the way you do business.

With a hosted PBX you don't even need to have a static office – your employees don't need to sit in your office to do their job. If you can have staff working from home you save on hardware, office space, and all the paraphernalia that goes along with it. You can have one phone number for a national operation, and, if you have clients from all over the world, you can even have a Voice over Internet Protocol system in place so global clients can call you for free.

PBX systems can be as feature rich or as simple as your requirements dictate. Whether you are a small company, or a large national business, a hosted PBX can provide you savings without loss of features. If you haven't considered it yet, check it out now.

Canadian Technology News

© markhillary

Canadian technology news has been dour as of late, with the implosion of Nortel Networks two years ago followed by the slow-motion collapse of RIM.

This week Research in Motion added to investor concerns as it issued a profit warning and announced first quarter earnings which were sharply lower than analyst estimates. The company also said it would be forced to cut jobs going forward. If RIM is not able to regain momentum, the implications for the entire technology industry in Canada could be dire. That's because the company has been a central player in the Canadian technology space for years, and can be credited with creating countless jobs, innovations and partnerships that benefit the entire country. The troubling results have major implications for the 17,500 employees of RIM, as well as its many investors and community stakeholders.
