4G Tech News in Canada

Tech news is reporting that Telus Corporation, the second largest Canadian telecommunication company, is getting set to launch 4G LTE technology in early 2012, following on the heels of advancements in its 3G wireless network. After Telus fully upgrades its 3G network this year, it will deploy its 4G network to urban Canadians which will provide download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 70 Mbps.
It will use the advanced wireless services (AWS) spectrum that Telus bought in Canada's auction process in 2008. Deployment to rural Canada depends on lower frequency airwaves, the 700 MHz wireless spectrum, which will be auctioned in 2012. The company has not disclosed whether it will build its own LTE technology or team up with Bell Canada. The company is lagging its rival Rogers Communication in the rollout of LTE, as Rogers will likely launch its LTE services this year.
